After the suspended parenthesis of the Pandemic, between wars that have returned to hurt the world, epochal transformations announced by Artificial Intelligence and enormous, growing economic and social inequalities, something deeper has been torn apart.
And from there a reflective urgency emerged that I would like us not to lose.
I'm nostalgic for the future. Of that feeling that does not look back to regret, but that feels the clear need for what has not yet happened, yet is necessary.
Like many of you, I imagine, I have spent these years walking, thinking, writing and listening. I got lost, we got lost and found each other again. I understood, even more, that the construction of reality is a choral act: the individual counts, but it is not enough; because it is only in the intertwining of consciences, will and responsibility that the future takes shape.
The Italian Institute for European Studies (https://www.iise.it ) and HUB (https://hubspa.it ) that I founded together with my lifelong friends and the lawyer Gerardo Marotta and my terrace in Naples were born, and must increasingly be, places open to those who are not satisfied with the obvious. To those who choose depth. Physical spaces for those who want to transform doubt into cultural, artistic and political energy.
We are looking for a space equally suitable for the IISE foundation in the center of Naples. And in the same vein, the homes of other friends who share this drive will also be open to host us.
I don't come back to write here to seek consensus and accumulate "Likes". I return to trigger a reaction, trying to use social networks for what, in their best outcome, they could have been.
I'm looking for people who have the perseverance to sit down to discuss, to plan, to measure themselves with the "necessary imperfection" of operating. Each of us constitutes the intersection of a future fabric that can be activated. I have dedicated a novel to this broader project, currently under editorial review, into which I have poured out various ideas that I would like to try to share, to make actions.
We ask you to rally anyone who, like us, feels this same urgency. I've never done it on social media, but why not do it now? I ask you to invite, tag, two people who want a real metamorphosis and who you would consider essential for our next meeting.
